The Upper House by Angel, a high-rise building situated on Walońska Street in Wrocław, near the Old Town and the River Oława, offers premium apartments. The 17-storey building, the latest development by the Angel Poland group, was designed by EPR Architects, whilst the developer invited Spanish architects from ADC Atelier to collaborate on the design of the communal areas. High-quality building and finishing materials were used throughout the development; for example, in the underground car park, resin-based flooring solutions from the Flowcrete brand manufactured and supplied by Tremco CPG, were installed.
The Upper House by Angel stands out thanks to its excellent location in the city centre, whilst also being attractively situated amidst greenery and water. The skyscraper offers over 380 apartments – ranging from functional studios with floor areas from 25 m² to a collection of unique penthouses on the top floors, measuring up to 250 m². Facilities available exclusively to residents include a 25-metre swimming pool with a relaxation area, a sauna complex, a fitness area, a lobby with a 24-hour reception, a co-working space with a library and views of the patio, a children’s play area, and a green terrace on the roof of the 10th floor. The underground section features a spacious two-level car park with 384 parking spaces.
To protect the base slab and the intermediate levels of the car park, the client was looking for a flooring solution that would be durable and robust enough to withstand heavy vehicle traffic. Performance characteristics such as slip resistance and ease of cleaning were also important, as was the ability to maintain an attractive appearance over the years.
After reviewing the design, requirements and conditions of use for the car park floor at The Upper House by Angel, experts from Tremco CPG recommended the Deckshield polyurethane-quartz system. This system was applied across an area of more than 10,000 m² of this project.
Deckshield flooring is the flagship solution from Flowcrete, a brand owned by Tremco CPG, designed for use in car parks and garages. This multi-layer system, based on polyurethane resins and quartz sand, provides effective protection for concrete substrates against external factors. It is watertight, with high mechanical strength – including resistance to abrasion and impact – and is chemically resistant, for example to fuels and other automotive fluids. The aggregate content gives this coating anti-slip properties.
The developer and architects opted for a grey floor with white horizontal markings painted onto it, which ensures that the traffic layout is clearly visible to drivers. This colour combination also creates an attractive aesthetic with the yellow walls used in the car park at The Upper House. Furthermore, the Deckshield flooring has a glossy finish, which reflects light, making the car park feel bright and friendly to users, thereby enhancing their sense of safety and order.
