The British Polish Chamber of Commerce (BPCC), together with WSB Merito University Wrocław and Michael Page, had the pleasure of co‑organising and participating in the event “Career without illusions: leadership and work in the shadow of burnout” held on 19 June 2026. The meeting underscored how deeply this topic resonates across today’s labour market and within modern organisations.

The event brought together three complementary perspectives:

  • leadership and professional development – the evolving role of leaders in shaping healthy work environments,
  • psychology and resilience – mechanisms behind burnout and strategies for strengthening employee wellbeing,
  • recruitment and labour market trends – insights into current expectations of candidates and employers.

This multidimensional approach created space for a substantive, experience‑based conversation.

Expert contributions

The value of the event was shaped by our speakers, who shared both expert knowledge and practical observations drawn from their work with leaders, teams and candidates:

  • Grzegorz Rippel – consultant and trainer with over 25 years of experience in consulting, training and teaching, offering a practitioner’s view on leadership challenges.
  • Karolina Żmudzka – psychologist, coach and therapist, presenting the psychological aspects of burnout and ways to build mental resilience.
  • Anna Solecka and Marta Kozak (Michael Page) – recruitment and advisory experts, sharing insights from daily cooperation with candidates, leaders and organisations.

All contributions were grounded in real stories and current challenges, which made the discussion authentic, dynamic and highly engaging. The presence of participants who travelled specifically to hear the speakers further confirmed the relevance and urgency of the topic.

Key takeaways

The event demonstrated that addressing burnout requires an interdisciplinary perspective and collaboration between business, academia and advisory sectors. Participants emphasised that the examples and experiences shared during the meeting helped them better understand their own professional realities and the challenges faced within their organisations.

BPCC extends its sincere thanks to all speakers for their insightful contributions and to all participants for their engagement and thoughtful questions. We also thank Agnieszka Sochanik and WSB Merito University Wrocław for co‑organising the event and hosting us. Initiatives like this enable us to better understand the evolving world of work and jointly seek practical, meaningful solutions.
